Goals and Objectives
Enrollment
Goal:
Sacred Heart will attract and retain a diverse student population at an optimum enrollment of 286 students in grades transitional kindergarten through 8th grade by 2013.
Objectives:
Increase enrollment toward 286 students with an optimum enrollment of 30 students in kindergarten through 8th grade. Transitional kindergarten is not to exceed 25 students.
To actively recruit students for all grade levels with special efforts to recruit students for TK, K, 7th, and 8th grades.
To strengthen the middle school program with an emphasis on math and sciences in order to meet the academic needs of students continuing on to local Catholic schools and be able to compete with the best other schools have to offer.
Mission Effectiveness
Goal:
Sacred Heart will regularly reflect on its mission, publicize and promote its mission, and evaluate what progress is made in implementing its mission- with particular attention to Catholic Identity.
Objectives:
To implement concrete strategies to publicize and broadcast our mission to administration, faculty, parents, and the community at large.
To implement an annual discussion among administration, faculty, and parents to search for further ways to support the mission.
To implement the development of a yearly process to measure if the mission is better promulgated and if steps have been taken to further implement it.
Sacred Heart in the Community
Goal:
Sacred Heart School will promote and maintain a positive school image to current and prospective parents, to the Sacred Heart Parish, to surrounding parishes, and to the city of Salinas.
Objectives:
To identify opportunities for the school community (students, parents, and staff) to participate in community service projects.
To create opportunities for students to participate in county wide academic programs such as Science fair, academic decathlons, spelling bees, history day, Mathletics, debate teams, etc and to publicize these events via email and the website.
To increase opportunities for students to participate in intramural sports programs.
To establish a consistent marketing plan and public relations efforts to highlight Sacred Heart students’ academic excellence, spiritual leadership. Contributions in community service projects, and school activities.
Curriculum
Goal:
Sacred Heart School will continue to develop, grow, and expand a comprehensive curriculum that promotes critical thinking and active learner participation from Transitional Kindergarten through Eighth Grade.
Objectives:
To develop a curriculum that is strong in Catholic values and promotes the principles of Social Justice.
To adopt a new Social Studies curriculum that is aligned to the California State Content Standards, promotes higher level thinking skills and active learner participation, and rivals other learning environments.
To foster the use of technology across the curriculum.
Staffing
Goal:
Sacred Heart will continue to actively recruit only the most highly qualified staff in order to support an expanded curriculum and secure the message of academic excellence.
Objectives:
To hire a 7th grade homeroom teacher with strengths in the areas of math and science.
To continue to provide teachers with a program of professional development that fosters learning and technology integration.
Marketing
Goal:
Sacred Heart will design and implement a plan that will enhance the surrounding community’s knowledge of the features and benefits of attending Sacred Heart School and the fulfillment of those promises.
Objectives:
To establish a clear message of academic excellence and service to the community.
To analyze the needs of the community and respond to them.
To establish a plan to get our message out.
Development
Goal:
Sacred Heart will establish a comprehensive development plan.
Objectives:
To implement an Annual Fund, with semi-annual direct mail appeals, segmented to target constituencies.
To implement Newsletter, semi-annual direct mail appeals, segmented to target constituencies.
To coordinate Events, with strategic fund-raising purpose, integrated into master calendar.
To implement Stewardship, fierce and consistent and creative.
To establish Infrastructure, which supports all of the above, including but not limited to a flexible, multi-purpose database and professional staffing as salary(ies) become(s) available.
Facilities
Goal:
Sacred Heart School will develop a comprehensive facility master plan to support its academic, extracurricular and community outreach programs including components for space utilization, maintenance and capital improvements.
Objectives:
To prepare a technology needs assessment and assembling the hardware specifications and scope of work for the technology upgrades.
To complete electrical upgrades.
To complete technology upgrades.
Finance
Goal:
Sacred Heart will develop a financial plan that is driven by a clear sense of mission which annually updates the long range financial plan with components for operations, capital needs, and endowment.
Objectives:
To provide timely financial reports for monitoring in order to manage income and expenses.
To monitor the impact of varying enrollment to assist the board and staff in budget planning.
To create a reserve for emergencies that equals one month’s worth of operating expenses, approximately $125,000.
To develop an annual funding plan which contributes to a Reserve for Capital Needs Replacement Fund equal to $30,000.
